Strength AND Perseverance???
Remember yesterday - the prayer for strength and courage? Today is the day I need the strength - and it's physical strength I'm talking about. Today is the day husband Frank decided we finally need to get started on our floor project. This entails ripping out all the carpet and carpet pad in the living room, hall and master bedroom PLUS the laminate in the kitchen.
I tried to help. I really did. I sharpened the "Exacto" knife blade on the bench grinder, then sliced through the carpet from wall to wall so the first strip would come out. After that was taken out I helped pull staples from the floorboard. My stamina ran out quickly; I'm pretty sure I used to have more. Where did it go?
Poor Frank is STILL working. Even he does not expect the job to get done quickly, but maintains that "slow and steady wins the race." I made a nice lunch for him and soon we'll make a trip to the "dump" to get rid of some of the carpet and pad.
We all have obstacles to overcome. You know what I'm talking about. James wrote (1:2-4) to "consider it pure joy, my brothers [and my sisters!] whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

Brian wanted to paint the hall last week, so we did, light yellow with white doors and trim. At the very back of the hall stood this glaring white door. It needed something, so I painted broom closet on it. Later that night when Dale got home, I said to him, I was so tempted to paint a witch on her broom on the door and he said that was fine as long as I inserted one little word before Broom, Sharon's
